We are looking for a retired pastor to minister to our group of senior saints. Ideally, this pastor would be providing primary shepherding for this group of believers, and look for opportunities to encourage unchurched seniors to participate in events, outings, and studies. He would lead a Bible-study on Wednesday mornings, and possibly teach the senior-adult LifeGroup which currently meets at 9:45 Sunday morning, as well as other teaching opportunities as they might arise. Filling the pulpit during any absence of the Senior Pastor would also be a possibility.
First Baptist Church is a 130-year-old congregation that is experiencing a rekindling of the power of the Holy Spirit in the congregational life. Thus far this year the attendance has doubled with over 60 people accepting Christ as Savior. We are experiencing radically-transformed lives, marriages being restored, spiritual renewal and growth in both attendance and spiritual maturity. We are a very diverse congregation, with a wide-range of ages, ethnicities (although predominantly white), and economic realities. We practice a blended-style of worship which incorporates many different expressions including music, art, media, and rhythm.
First is located in one of the most economically hard-hit areas of the nation. That being said, we are being intentional in teaching the congregation about stewardship and faithful giving and are seeing some growth in giving, but progress in this area is slow. The man God leads here would need to provide their own income at the start, with the goal of working into a part-time or full-time position. |
